Ginger Benefits

One of my favorite things to buy each week is a nice big piece of ginger root. Ginger is an excellent detoxifier. It cleanses the lymphatic system which boosts immunity and also increases metabolism which can help with weight loss. By relaxing the smooth muscle in your intestinal tract, it allows food to pass through more easily preventing any toxic buildup which causes bloating. Ginger is also anti-inflammatory and is used as a natural remedy for nausea.

When picking the perfect piece of ginger, avoid any pieces that are moist which can get moldy pretty quick. The best way to store it is in a ziplock bag in the refrigerator. You can scrape the skin off with a spoon, otherwise you risk losing too much ginger if you used a knife.

If you get colds often, I highly recommend incorporating ginger into your daily diet! You can steep it in hot water with lemon, or add a piece to your smoothie for an extra kick!

If you have respiratory problems, combining ginger oil and eucalyptus in an oil diffuser can help open your airways. I have one next to my bed which I use every night!
